This notice covers toolsfortheweb.co.uk and explains how personal information is handled under UK data protection law.
Tool inputs and generated results
The tools process calculations, text and selected images in your browser. Our tool code does not upload images or send entered values to our server for calculation, and it does not create a server-side history of your results. Downloaded files and copied text are saved on your device or clipboard under your control. Browser features, extensions and device backups may retain information independently.
There is an important exception to keeping inputs off the server: the WhatsApp generator’s “QR code” link includes the generated WhatsApp URL in a query string. Following it sends that URL, including the phone number and any message, to our web server as part of the page address. It may appear in server logs and browser history. Avoid including confidential information in these links. QR codes themselves contain the information you encode; anyone able to scan them may read it, including WiFi credentials.
Website requests and security
Serving pages involves processing an IP address and technical request data, such as the requested URL, time, browser information and possibly a referring page. The hosting provider may record this information in access or error logs. Where we process it to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the website, our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in running a reliable, secure service. We do not use the tools to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Hosting provider, processing locations and any international transfer arrangements must be confirmed by the operator before public launch.
External QR library
The QR generator loads its JavaScript library from jsDelivr. Your browser makes a request to that provider, exposing technical connection information such as your IP address; our QR code does not send the text you encode to an external QR-generation API. Advertising and consent
Google AdSense is enabled on this site. Auto Ads may select ad placements and formats automatically.
When enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process IP addresses, device/browser information, identifiers, visited pages and ad interactions to deliver, measure and protect advertising. Personalised ads may also use interests inferred across services. Cookies and similar storage may be used; non-personalised ads can still involve cookies and are not automatically consent-free.
For visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland, Google’s certified consent management platform provides information about purposes and vendors and lets you consent, decline or manage choices. Where consent is required, it is the basis for optional advertising storage and associated processing. Declining optional purposes does not prevent use of the tools. Any processing relying on another lawful basis must be identified in the vendor information shown by the CMP.
Use “Privacy and cookie settings” in the footer when available to reopen the Google message and change or withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not invalidate processing already carried out. See our Cookie Policy, Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner sites. Google and listed vendors may act as independent controllers under their own notices.
Contact enquiries
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to provide. We use it to respond and resolve your enquiry, relying on our legitimate interests in providing support; where necessary to comply with a legal duty, we rely on legal obligation. Do not send passwords, sensitive personal information or private tool inputs. There is no contact submission form or account database on this site.
Sharing and overseas processing
Recipients may include hosting and email service providers, the CDN provider, advertising and consent providers when enabled, and authorities where disclosure is legally required. Providers may process information outside the UK. For our own restricted transfers, appropriate arrangements must be in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Google and other independent providers describe their locations and safeguards in their privacy notices; use the contact details above to ask about safeguards for processing for which we are responsible.
Retention
Tool inputs are not stored in a site database. This does not cover information included in page URLs, server logs, emails or third-party records.
The operator must confirm the host’s actual log retention period or criteria before public launch.
We retain correspondence only for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and address any related dispute or legal obligation, considering the sensitivity of the information and whether it is still needed. Advertising identifiers and consent records have provider-specific lifetimes, described in the CMP and linked provider notices.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions. Contact us using the details above; we may need proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month, with any lawful extension explained. We cannot retrieve tool inputs that were never sent to us.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not have to contact us first.
Changes and other services
We update this notice when our practices change and show the revision date above. Opening a generated link, visiting an advertiser or using WhatsApp takes you to services with their own privacy terms. The site has no separate analytics tracker in its supplied code; any future analytics requires a review of this notice and the consent setup.
